Urgent Appointment

To request an urgent appointment for today or tomorrow (Monday to Friday):

  • phone us on 01223 247812 / 01223 414444 from 8:30am Monday to Friday

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.

Routine Appointment

To request a routine appointment in the next 7 days:

  • phone us on 01223 247812 / 01223 414444 from 8:30am Monday to Friday
  • visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm
  • use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App) to book a screening test or vaccination

All incoming requests are triaged, to ensure you receive the best solution to your request.  A member of our team will respond within 1 -2 working days - the majority of appointments are VIRTUAL the GP will contact you around the time of your appointment and conduct an assessment of your problem - if you require a face to face appointment the GP will arrange this with you at the end of the call.  Please make sure you look out for our call but If you miss our call we will try again, please do not call us.  If we miss you more than once we will probably send a text message asking you to make another appointment.

Due to the volume of calls coming in and out of the practice you may find the lines are busier than normal so we ask you leave the early morning and afternoon periods free to allow for patients calling for urgent help to get through. Nursing appointments are available to book through the reception team so please continue to call for your routine testing i.e. dressings, smears, injections blood tests etc.

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery
  • on a video call
  • by text or email

Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

It is important to let us know if you are unable to attend your appointment.  This allows us to offer the slot to another patient.  Unfortunately we experience a great deal of wasted appointments and calculate this to be a whole GP or Nurse session. Persistent defaulters will receive a letter or maybe find themselves removed from the list.

To cancel your appointment:

  • use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
  • phone us on 01223 247812 / 01223 414444 from 8:30am Monday to Friday
  • reply CANCEL to your appointment reminder text message

Home visits

Home Visits are provided by the GP for patients who are genuinely housebound due to an illness or disability.  Most patients including babies and small children with temperatures can usually be brought to the surgery, for a pre- arranged appointment.  We will use our clinical judgement in each case.

If possible try to telephone the surgery BEFORE 11am.

When requesting a home visit the receptionist will ask for a few details.  One of our clinical team will then call you to discuss the problem first before visiting.

Extended hours

Evening and Weekend Appointments

Extra appointments to see a GP or Nurse in the evening or at the weekend are now available to all patients provided on our behalf by Cambs GP Network (Extended Access) which will be at a different surgery.

You can book your appointment through our receptionist who will give you a time, date and venue for your appointment.

Please see Cambs GP Network website for further information

Alternative Services

General practice is facing an increasing workload and we want to ensure we are talking to those patients who really need our help.

As part of the governments "Five Year Forward View" for the NHS more services are now becoming available to patients to contact directly without the need to see a GP.
